February 15, 2011 American Jews and Egypt To the Editor: Re “Jews in U.S. Are Wary in Happiness for Egypt” (news article, Feb. 14):



I cannot speak as one of the “American Jewish leaders” whom you quote. But I can tell you that I am one Jewish woman who was moved to tears of joy as I watched (and, yes, identified with) the young people of Egypt celebrating having overthrown a tyrant, and having accomplished it, amazingly, without guns.

To the Editor:
Here’s one “Jew in the U.S.” whose happiness is unalloyed. Now the United States needs to renounce torture, whether performed by our own government or that of a client state.
