Ralph Macchio’s foxtrot keeps him on top on ‘Dancng with the Stars’

For me, this is what “Dancing With the Stars” is all about: Ralph Macchio playing air guitar in spats and a skinny tie. He continued to top the leaderboard with a score of 45 out of 60 for his smooth foxtrot and his exuberant jive.
True, I am demographically disposed to root for the ageless heartthrob. But surely I wasn’t the only one inspired to search Netflix for 1980’s “Up the Academy”? (Yes, you can live-stream it!)
The Steelers’ Hines Ward charmed his way into second place with 44 points out of 60, and Kirstie Alley surprised again with a passable quickstep and third place.
But despite the support of Dr. Drew Pinsky in the audience, it doesn’t look good for radio’s Mike Catherwood, who mustered just 30 points total (and comparisons to various insects) from the judges.
Bruno Tonioli’s critique of the night, to Mark Ballas: “It was like Marcel Marceau desperately seeking Lolita in ‘A Clockwork Orange.’”
Tonight: the first elimination.
