From 1941: Here's the caption: "Visitors to the newly remodeled Rock Island railroad station, Fifth Avenue and Vine Street, found the waiting room of old had been converted into a virtual club room. Red and yellow leather upholstered armchairs are scattered about, with modernistic drapes at the large glass block windows and a lounge-type cafe counter (background).
