Area warming centers closed 02/03/2011, 11:09 am

The American Red Cross has closed its warming centers at the Public Action to Deliver Shelter in Ottawa and Streator's Salvation Army because of low or no attendance.

The American Red Cross of the Heartland sheltered nearly 40 people in seven shelters Tuesday night, but the overnight shelter populations for Wednesday dropped to four at the Miller Park Pavilion location in Bloomington and none at any of the remaining shelters. Red Cross personnel ensured the four clients at the Miller Park Pavilion had places to go Thursday and overnight.

All American Red Cross disaster relief assistance is free, made possible by gifts from people and businesses.
