Liquor, VIP seating coming to 2 Minn. movie theaters By PAUL WALSH, Star Tribune Last update: February 2, 2011
Liquor and reserved seating will soon be offered at two Minnesota movie theaters, one in Burnsville and the other in Rochester, as both change ownership.
Florida-based Paragon Theaters on Tuesday announced that they are buying from Twin Cities-based CineMagic Theatres the Atlantis 15 (being renamed the Odyssey 15) in Burnsville and the Chateau 14 in Rochester.
Along with drinks and other enhanced menu selections, the theaters will also upgrade their projection to all-digital, offer premier and reserved seating and 3D screens. Both theaters are closed for the makeover.
The Burnsville site will reopen in about two weeks. VIP seating, with the bar and lounge and "small-plate food offerings," will follow in the spring, Paragon said.
The Rochester theater will be back in business late this month or early next month with similar improvements.
Paragon operates two other luxury theaters, both of which opened last year: one in Fredericksburg, Va., and the other in Coconut Grove, Fla.
CineMagic, according to its website, has theaters in Minnesota (Austin, Rochester, St. Peter), Wisconsin (Menomonie) and Iowa (Okoboji).
