A conversation between two fools - blood brothers now and forever, AMEN. PLEASE - feel free to comment

Mark,

I think about you every day. I have been trying to figure out how to frame my discourse with you. I want to set a couple of parameters up front. First, I'm your brother and you can't choose your family and even when you vehemently disagree, everything should remain cordial.

Second, sheer force of personality or sharpness of wit alone should not be enough to win any argument. I feel that as much emotion and as few facts as possible are also necessary. also I think it must be understood that at this point in our lives we are probably coming from ideological polar opposites, but I'm willing to let that prove itself out in time.

OK, first I want to say that I believe that man is NOT fundamentally or essentially good. I firmly believe that left to ourselves, we would destroy everything sooner than later, and without God's intervention we wouldn't have any chance of turning things around, especially with the help our our government.

That being said, answer me this. Why do so many of my chronological peers who mistrusted ALL government in the sixties, mistrust only republicans, or only democrats now? and even if I never obtain forgiveness, SOMEONE has to call PC what it is.

We get old, we get sloppy, we YEARN to return to that garden-like state of Da Vida - we're looking for a hero to "save us." That's why Christ on a Cross is such a "comforting" image - he died so we wouldn't have to ... get the middle man to wiggle us out ... but, once we give ourselves over to heroes ... we must also give ourselves over to villians ... w/o a devil, who would need a god?

I believe there is a childhood state of comprehension and understanding that transcends a WHOLE lot of things ... that Children are in fact Gods ... and that they can become corrupted, tarnished, tattered, or burnt, by flying to close to the places where material things loom large. Watch two children who have never before met ... they will play together ... boy and girl, black and white, red and brown .. they will smile ... we were MADE in God's image (and imagining) as children ... as adults, we kind of break the mold ... and, when confronted with choices, much as the arch-angel Lucifer chose power over love, we too make choices which do not involve love.

And NOW , that we have graduated from college, if we graduated from a college with a successful sports program (I'm thinking Jim "White Shoes" Jones, a young man I worked with at Bankers Life and Casualty, in the Actuarial Division, who attended Michigan State University during the time that Magic Johnson led them to the NCAA tourney championship ... FOREVER, WHENEVER Jim spoke of his alma mater, he would say ..... WE .....

Jon - you'll know this for a fact ... as children, permitted at our youngest to play, we will play in mud, with muddy, poor children or lesser gods ... but as we grow older, and come to admire and wish to possess material things, we want to hang with the KEWL KIDZ ... so, it becomes like a game of pick up basketball,

SHIRTS vs SKINS ... all a very tribal affair, when it's about one tribe coveting the possessions and accomplishments of another tribe to the extent that they will fucking KILL to obtain those possessions ... just like in the olden daze, when the HEBREWS were conquering the allegedly "promised" land

AND YES ... CALL THEM ON THE PC ... check out Bob Somersby who blogs at

DAILYHOWLER.COM ... Bob taught 13 years in the Baltimore public elementary school systems ... Yale University graduate, room mate of Al Gore, he now (and has for many) years made a living as a stand up comic.

BOB is VERY perceptive about the shirts v skins thingie, and he calls the most highly regarded "liberal" of bloggers on their shirts v skinnedness, and their dumb fucking PC verbal correctness

And he writes about the poor state of educational reporting in our national papers of record ... and he writes about the deterioriation of the modern discourse .... he STRONGLY advises people to watch the movie IDIOCRACY, and dares people to suggest we ain't already there!!

A most excellent riddle with which to puzzle me, my always child-like god-like man-child and human being.

With Love, Always, to You and All You Love,
