Hubble telescope discovers oldest galaxy

­Astronomers have captured the images of what is being called the oldest galaxy ever seen. The “big sister” is located 13,200 billion light years from Earth. Scientists say the newly detected galaxy was born some 480 million years after the Big Bang. Astronomers believe next-generation sensors will help return images that are very close to the first galaxies.


Bomb hoax phoned into Domodedovo airport

­Just two days after a deadly blast at Moscow’s largest airport, the police received an anonymous phone call saying a bomb was again set to go off at Domodedovo. However, the airport’s staff decided not to evacuate people before the threat was confirmed and a group of specialists carefully checked the building, but found nothing.

More than 800 protesters arrested in Egypt

Some 860 people have been arrested across Egypt over two days of anti-government demonstrations, AP reports, citing Egyptian security officials. 600 were detained in the capital Cairo alone. The demonstrations are considered to be the largest in decades. People are protesting against the poor economic situation in the country and demanding the resignation of long-serving President Hosni Mubarak.
